A Redditch restaurant was named the best in the Midlands at this year's British Curry Awards in London.
Rilys in Redditch town centre was one of ten restaurants to receive awards at a star-studded presentation dinner at London's Battersea Evolution, Battersea Park.
The British Curry Awards, now in its seventh year, are recognised as the industry's 'Oscars' and more than 1,500 restaurateurs, VIP guests and celebrities were in the audience to see the results announced by celebrity chef James Martin, host of BBC1's Saturday Kitchen.
Guests included London Mayor Boris Johnson, Employment Minister Chris Grayling and Conservative Party co-Chairman Baroness Warsi. Prime Minister David Cameron also gave a televised video message describing the event as "uplifting and inspiring".
Rilys Restaurant has beaten a number of top restaurants in 10 counties throughout the Midlands to acclaim its position as "Best in the Midlands".
General Manager Mujibur Rahman said, "It is an honour to receive such recognition for our vision and all those who contribute to the success of Rilys. It is at events such as these we can showcase our passion for the industry and how we are at the cutting edge of the Indian fine dining experience.
The Midlands is one of the toughest regions within the UK, competing with top restaurants from Birmingham to Leicester and to win the top prize amongst so many other deserving candidates is a privilege owing to the wonderful support we have from our customers"
Rilys Redditch is the flagship restaurant of The Rilys Group, other branches are located at the Riverside in Evesham (also a finalist at this year's British Curry Awards) and at The Park Gate Inn in Bromsgrove.
Rilys will now continue with its award winning success as the only Worcestershire based restaurant to win this glamorous title, firmly putting Redditch on the map to host one of UK's top Indian Restaurants.
